The Bootable CD can be used for a lot of different things. Here are some examples of applications - and some instructions for some of the more complex ones.
Safe Browser: When you want to go to untrusted web sites and surf with all of the browser options turned on, go to a Bootable CD box - or boot the box you are on from the Bootable CD. Come up in X11, start the network interface, and browse away in safety - and when you are done - no residual data remains.
Road Warrior: On the road with the Bootable CD, you can go to the local cyber cafe or business center in the hotel, boot from the Bootable CD, and secure shell into your home system without worying about snooping or redidual data.
Rapid Rigging: Need an emergency secure meeting over the Internet? Throw up a Bootable CD box, rig a root password, get it on the net, then tell the participants the password and have them secure shell in. Hold your conversation on the Bootable CD, all encrypted, no residual data. It takes only a few minutes to get the whole thing rigged, with no risk to your other systems.
Intelligence Tool: Boot from a Bootable CD and copy out critical data without leaving any indicators of what you accessed. At most they know the computer was rebooted.
Audit Tool: Use the md5sum program in our Bootable CD to do cryptographic checksums on mounted file systems. compress the checksum file and store it on a floppy, then compare it to known checksums at a later time - or do it directly over the net with a remote database.
Emergency Backup: Your disk is failing - or your system has stopped working because of a software licensing problem. You need an emergency backup... Boot from the Bootable CD and back up to another disk or over the network.
Lots of other applications are available, and you can customize them into the PLAC.go file to make your system automate them as a process whenever booting up.
