Not all operating units within the Department will require this level position. A major subordinate organization is defined to mean any large organizational component that has management responsibility for a number of individual IT systems performing separate functions (i.e., Line Office, Laboratory, Regional Office). The subordinate organization ITSO shall serve as the central point of contact for the subordinate organization IT security program with the operating unit ITSO. If this level of position is determined to be appropriate for the operating unit, the functions of the ITSO for the subordinate organization generally parallel those specified for the ITSO.
