The latest
I am genuinely sorry that this page, like so many others, has fallen
into such a state of disrepair. Aside from the usual excuses (see below),
I also have had the misfortune of developing Repetitive Strain
Injuries. Thus, I have to limit my typing to only what is absolutely
necessary. Anyway, I hope to be able to clean this up over the next few months.
- Elena and I got married on June 28th!
- We adopted Tigger and Roo, identical (high-spirited!) kittens
that had been rescued by the Feline
Foundation
- I finished my dissertation and defended it in December!
- My dissertation can be downloaded as a
5MB Postscript file
or a much smaller
zipped Postscript file
- I moved to northern Virginia in August.
- I started work on October 27th
- I've been asked to co-chair the New Security Paradigms Workshop
Work
- My advisor was Bill Wulf, currently on leave as the president of the National Academy of Engineering.
- I worked in the general area of
computer security,
and specifically on assurance for the
Legion computing system.
- I just finished writing my dissertation, a method for developing and
organizing analyses of security properties. A paper presented at the
New Security Paradigms Workshop is available here (Postscript) but if you read it, I expect feedback!
- I was also involved in the design and implementation of the Legion security model.
- I am a proudNew College alum.
Play
- I play with my LEGO collection to clear my head.
- I have a huge collection of board games now gathering dust.
- I have just started to get reacquainted with Model Railroading after a
fifteen-year hiatus.
- I enjoy reading and writing poetry.
- I occasionally find time to read a book.
- And during baseball season, my mood varies with the fortunes of the Red Sox (avoid me in October…)
My Life Story
- And if you're interested, a fairly out-of-date version of my life story is available here.
