The Benton Foundation's CPP project promotes public interest values and
noncommercial services for the National Information Infrastructure (NII)
through research, policy analysis, print, video and online publishing, and
outreach to nonprofits and foundations. It is Benton's conviction that the
vigorous participation of the nonprofit sector in policy debates and
demonstration projects will help realize the public interest potential of
the NII. We divide our work into two areas: Policy - to infuse the emerging
communications environment with public interest values; and Practice - to
demonstrate the value of communications for solving social problems and
strengthening social bonds. More information about the Benton Foundation can
be found at www.benton.org.
