 I agree with your supposition concerning the backdoor, all the way to it
being beyond my comprehension too.  Besides, given the extent to which our
black-hatted exploiters have gone to uncover all the potential
vulnerabilities of Windows, it's hard to imagine that they have not found
such a thing.

Bottom-line for me is that anyone foolish enough to use a Windows-based
machine for processing and storage of information of a truly important
nature (whatever "truly important nature" may mean to the given party) is
asking to be compromised.  Regardless of what NCSC/NIST et al say, the NT in
Windows to me means "Not [fully] Trustable".  Chalk it off to my perverse
disposal towards risk management.
