There's never any harm in asking your enemy to be nice...just be prepared
for him to laugh at you and then attack anyway. On a slightly different
note...I get the impression that the much touted "end-of-the-Eworld" came
and went without any much more than a lot of sighs from disappointed News
Anchors (for having so little to report). Not much in the way of attacks
either from what I can ascertain.

Could it be our "enemies" became nice? Did they not appear purposely
because everyone was looking for them to? Could it be that all the fear,
uncertainty, and doubt (FUD in IBM parlance) that was created by continually
announced threats was their actual objective (to see everyone run around
frantically)? Do we still have another shoe waiting to drop sometime after
January 15th when our guards are down and we have breathed a sigh of relief?

I don't know either.

It exhibits a lack of confidence in your own systems and security
administrators, it weakens public confidence in the government's
ability to manage IT. It's piss poor leadership, not that that's a
surprise lately.
