Following you line would say "yes and no".

Yes - in the case of the mentioned cracker "m0sad" - my sources confirmed
that this not more than a smart individual working teenager.

No - should be divided for two. A) Individually working, with not any
coordination between any others. B) Well coordinated groups.

For the "No" part I must note that at the beginning of the cyber conflict
many coordinated attacks were observed; In this days, only fraction of those
can be classified as "coordinated", most of them are individually working,
although their motives apparently stays the same.  I additional, yes, if
believe like you that are pranks around, my estimations is 2-3%.
