I too have missed the iwar updates.  For what its worth I discovered=20
this news bit recently.  The bill in question comes from Senators=20
Patrick Leahy and Orrin Hatch.  It is S. 2516, "The Fugitive=20
Apprehension Act." The bill allows the government to obtain any kind=20
of document it wants, without first getting a search warrant or a=20
subpoena from a court. Section 3(b) allows the attorney general=20=20=20=20
or her subordinate, rather than a court, to issue subpoenas. These=20
documents include any written or electronic document possessed by=20
an individual =97 or possessed by a third party (such as bank=20
records, credit card records, telephone records, school records, or=20
an Internet Service Provider's customer records).=20
