Awareness about Internet - Abu Dhabi for new strategy
Kuwait Times (Kuwait City)
Posted Sunday December 24, 2000 - 07:28:16 PM EST

DUBAI - A group of senior government officials and citizens in Dubai has said the UAE needs to formulate an Internet strategy, whereby government objectives envisaged from a heavy use of the revolutionary tool are realised efficiently, and guarantees against the adverse impact of the global information web on users are also made....Security administrations and the Ministry of Information and Culture should be allowed to contribute to the monitoring process, they said. ....Officials said a basic problem was that the Internet falls outside any government or official monitoring. For that reason, security officials attending the majlis said specialised courses must be organised to help police personnel make use of the Internet as an investigation tool.
