( BW)(MA-ENVOYWORLDWIDE) F-Secure Radar Goes Live; EnvoyProfiles Allows
F-Secure to Proactively Alert Customers of Security Information and Aid in
the Prevention of Breaches
Business/Technology Editors
BILLERICA, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 23, 2001--
EnvoyProfiles Puts Communication and Event Preference in the Hands of
F-Secure's Customers, Empowering Timely Notification of Selected
Viruses and Attack Events
EnvoyWorldWide, Inc. the leading provider of business-critical
messaging services, announced today that F-Secure Corporation, a leading
provider of security for mobile and distributed enterprises, has selected
the EnvoyProfiles event-based communications service to guarantee customers
instant notification of high-impact security information and aid in the
prevention of security breaches.
Launched today as a significant enhancement to the EnvoyXpress
one-to-many business-critical messaging service, EnvoyProfiles is the
industry's first messaging solution to meet the needs of both the sender
and the recipient by enabling recipients to control when, where and how
they receive messages and senders the ability to set pre-defined events
that trigger notification. (See press release: EnvoyWorldWide Extends
Market Leading Position with the Launch of EnvoyProfiles).
EnvoyProfiles will power F-Secure's new branded service, F-Secure
Radar, which offers customers a subscription fee-based security alert
service. Through EnvoyProfiles, F-Secure Radar customers can manage their
own service profiles from any Web browser, selecting the security events
for which they want to be notified and matching each event with their
preferred wireless or wired communications method - phone, fax, email,
pager, SMS or other wireless device. Messages are delivered through the
powerful MessageBlaster engine; yet retain the F-Secure brand identity, an
important differentiation given the accountability companies demand related
to security.
"Security breaches can occur at any time of the day or night, and can
spread amazingly fast, costing businesses lots of money, damage and
heartache. When a potentially devastating virus, Denial of Service attack
or other security breach occurs, we need to quickly notify customers and
partners of the breach and solution," said Tanya Candia, Vice President of
Marketing at F-Secure. "The power of EnvoyProfiles is its ability to allow
our customers to control how they are contacted for any security breach,
ensuring that we are able to instantly deliver vital security information
to them. At the same time, EnvoyWorldWide's unmatched customer empowered
capabilities and hosted solution allows us to eliminate overhead involved
in maintaining alert contact information or in-house software and instead
focus on our core competency -- security."
F-Secure previously distributed security fixes and alerts to customers
via its F-Secure BackWeb console residing on customer machines. The new
F-Secure Radar solution will extend its current security alerting
capabilities to include all wireless and wired device notification,
enabling systems administrators to now be reached anywhere even when they
are not at their desks.
Implementing the EnvoyProfiles service was easy. F-Secure worked with
EnvoyWorldWide's Professional Services group to classify security related
events. Via their own password-protected preference Web page, each F-Secure
customer can update their profile subscribing to specific security event
notifications - such as Level 1 or Level 2 viruses - and providing specific
contact information and preferences for each event. When a specific
security event occurs, EnvoyProfiles sends a customized notification
message to all subscribed users via the contact methods specified by each user.
"We found that our customers wanted to be contacted in different ways
depending on the severity of the security breach," continued Tanya Candia.
"For a level 1 virus, systems administrators may want to be notified via
cell phone, whereas via email for a less intrusive virus. EnvoyWorldWide is
the only solution to provide this unique capability." EnvoyProfiles
complements EnvoyWorldWide's suite of messaging services consisting of
EnvoyXpress, the one-to-many messaging service based on the MessageBlaster
engine, and EnvoyXtend, which provides unmatched customization and
integration features, including a flexible XML-based API. EnvoyProfiles is
currently available and customizable for every business to reflect relevant
business-events, branded user interfaces, as well as customized phone
flows, fax and email templates.
