Hi Fred, hi all,

after I happened to start the latest mini-flame war,
I suspect that I owe you a short introduction to the list.

After I finished my PhD at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology
I joined a Swiss company related to IT/Telephony manufacturing.
My company supports "Infosurance", a Foundation for the Security of
Information Infrastructures in Switzerland, and as a side job of my
daily working load I have an eye on current developments in IW.

Reading and enjoying Fred's posts is part of my daily morning
routine for some 8 months now,
and only occasionally I fire out ill-mannered
one-liners.
Fred, thanks for your work and keep on going.

Considering the volume of discussion on the list, in my opinion
greets to James we should dare to make
a step forward and increase it. Most of the time the list resembles
a well-crafted bugtraq/zdnet channel. I enjoy the occasional
contributions
of Toni Bartoletti, who puts some life into the thing.

Thanks to all who contributed,
cheers,

Markus

Finally, I cannot resist to make some comment why
I (and I subsume Riccardo) went a little berserk intellectually
(you know, the "over the top" business, greets to James again).
The thing is that, as I posted, newsletters/handouts/leaflets
are ubiquitious etc.etc. in Europe, and I felt that therefore
the usual discussion IWAR vs. individual acts of individuals
would apply.
OK, I chose the worst format possible, i.e. a stupid lazy one-liner.
what put me over the top (rather emotionally than intellectually)
was that I did not trigger the desired kind of discussion - I didn't
deserve
it, obviously - but got the "default answer for non US-citizens"(TM)

> I guess you just don't understand [...] in the US

I was (and am) extremely disappointed to get that one from Fred,
especially since I definitely appreciate his opinions.
But OK, just like you shout at the forest, so it will echo back,
and that worked on me too (surprise surprise ;-)
