I found this article to be reckless and ill-conceived in the extreme.  The 
precedent that would be set by any use of such weapons in the current 
situation would do far more damage to US standing in the world than most 
anything else I could imagine.

As has become a habit from subscribing to this list, I find myself thinking 
"who is the intended audience" whenever something is written, or a 
statement is released.  At first, I tried to imagine that the purpose of 
this "piece" was really to galvanize rational thought against the use of 
such weapons, by offering a "straw-man" consideration of their use.  But I 
recognize that this article goes out world-wide.  So perhaps it was 
intended to "scare" our real enemies.  I doubt that it does, for we would 
certainly lose far more than we would gain, in my opinion.
