The WTC attack has caused us to dredge up and re-examine many past
incidents of terror. One just occurred to me that seems conspicuous by its
absence. Even I have forgotten the details.

Does anyone remember, a bit less than a year ago I believe, that an
airliner piloted by someone "from the middle east" (I cannot recall the
country) seemed to have been deliberately and suicidally driven into the
ocean? I recall that in the course of the investigation, the country of
origin bristled at the idea that they had a deranged or suicidal pilot on
their roles, while (by some means) there seemed evidence that the pilot
uttered some form of prayer prior to taking the plane down.

At the time, it seemed to be the isolated act of a despondent individual.

Seems less so today.
