The FBI received a bomb threat call Friday morning involving Detroit Public Schools, according to Special Agent In Charge John E. Bell Jr. Around 9:05 a.m., the command post at the Detroit office received a call from an unknown female. The caller stated that she had been approached by a male she identified as "Joe" who told her that it would not be a good idea to send her child to school Friday because there might be a bombing. The FBI immediately notified the Detroit Police Department regarding the phone call, according to a news release. The FBI also said that these types of calls are received on a daily basis by schools and law enforcement agencies from adults and children attempting to stay home from school. The Detroit Public Schools also received a number of bomb threats Friday morning and they have reportedly taken the appropriate steps to respond using existing protocols. The individual known as "Joe" has been identified, interviewed, and denies any knowledge of a bomb threat, according to the FBI. The FBI said that they are conducting an immediate investigation to determine the origin of the calls and who is responsible for making them.
