Saqer who was speaking at Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the fact that some four thousand Jewish employees at the World Trade Center had not turned up to work before the attacks clearly implied Zionists involvement in these attacks. He also added that the unexpected postponement of Zionist Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's visit to the U.S. could be yet another evidence linking Zionists' involvement in the tragedy. Saqer said Zionists pursued certain goals by conducting the attacks. The goals, he said, included axing the Palestinian Intifada in the light of the international shock resulting from the terrorist attacks, and damaging international unity in branding the Zionist regime a racist state following last September's U.N.-sponsored anti-racism conference in Durban, South Africa. Saqer recalled the propaganda of the western and the Zionist mass media in pointing the finger at the Muslims for the September 11 attacks, and deplored that the Arab and Muslim states had no strategic cooperation to counter such propaganda. Saqer warned of military consequences of 'American' globalization for the world, particularly the Middle East states, and said the purpose of U.S. presence in the Persian Gulf region was to further expand American version of globalization. The Syrian ambassador denounced the recent attacks on Afghanistan, and said President Bush's approach to fighting terrorism is 'unacceptable' to Syria. He further said the U.S. is aiming to test its military equipment by triggering a war in Afghanistan, and commented that a dialogue between civilizations would be the best way to fight terrorism.
