85,000 AT&T Broadband Customers May Experience Temporary Loss of Service
Saturday, October 27 From 1:00-6:00 AM

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 26, 2001--AT&T Broadband customers in
Chicago, primarily on the north side bounded by Howard St. on the north,
Roosevelt Rd. on the south, Kedzie Ave. on the west, and the lake on the
east, may experience a temporary loss of service between the hours of 1:00
a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2001.

The loss of service will occur due to the repair of fiber optic cables that
were accidentally cut by a non-AT&T construction crew today. Seven hundred
high-speed data customers experienced a loss of service immediately, but in
order to repair the problem, cables will need to be spliced and this
procedure may affect 85,000 high-speed data and video customers.

The repairs will take no more than five hours to be completed with normal
service resuming by 6:00 a.m. Saturday morning. For more information AT&T
Broadband customers can call their local cable office.
