Springfield utility officials immediately shut off the reservoir from the rest of the water distribution system after making the discovery Thursday night, according to the Web site of local Channel 6000 News. Officials reported finding a yellow substance in the north reservoir, which is a source of drinking water for many Portland, OR, residents. Officials flushed the water lines and took additional samples for testing on 26 October, said the news report. The results of the water analysis are not yet available, but officials said there is no cause for concern, the news report said. Springfield police said someone got to the top of the water tank and forced open the seal, but there are no suspects as yet. ------------------------ Yahoo!
