Saudis May Leave U.S. If Harassment Continues, Minister Says
By Cherif Cordahi

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Oct. 30 (Bloomberg) -- Saudi Arabia will tell
its citizens in the U.S. to leave the country if harassment against
them, following the Sept. 11 attacks in New York and Washington.,
continues, the official Saudi Press Agency reported, citing the
minister of interior.

``The kingdom is working to put an end to this matter'' of harassment,
prince Nayef bin Abdel Aziz al-Saud is quoted as saying. ``But if it
continues, we will certainly tell our citizens to come home.''

Scores of Saudi students, hospital patients and workers who returned
to the kingdom after the attacks complained of harassment,
maltreatment and humiliation at the hands of both the U.S. authorities
and general public, Agence France-Presse said. Twelve Saudis are
currently in police custody, AFP said.

Several of the 19 people who allegedly hijacked the aircraft for the
attacks carried Saudi, as well as other Arab passports. Wealthy Saudi
individuals have as much as $800 billion invested in overseas markets,
especially in the U.S., according to bankers in the Persian Gulf.
