I have a friend who had a family member killed in the Tet Offensive during the Vietnam war. While Ramadan is very important in Islam, the Taliban are on the edge of being a cult, in a country run by war lords. Real 10C stuff. They may view it their duty to kill as many "infidels" as they can during Ramadan, not as a religious time of peaful cooexistance with THEIR fellow man. If the world was perfect, this would never happen, but if the TET Offensive in Nsm is aa good example, I do not think the Taliban will lay down their weapon to fast and pray in regognition of this solemn holy time. --- Tony Bartoletti <azb@llnl.gov> wrote: > If there has ever been an extended conflict, anywhere on earth, in > which > momentary conquest has not been accompanied in some degree by > gratuitous > murder and rape, I would be very surprised.
