The resulting decisions: 1) Increase their power to snoop on the public 2) Centralize the investigative process 3) Increase funding to reduce failure rates In other words, if you do a bad job, you get rewarded with more money, if your centralization was the problem you build a bigger centralized system, and if you had the information you needed but failed to use is properly you get more information. Pardon me - but I think this is ass backwards. Somebody should tell some of our political elite that the solution to this problem starts with firing people at the top, reducing budget to those who failed, decentralizing control, and getting better at evaluating the information you already have. - More money will lead to more abuse. - More centralization will lead to worse investigative processes. - More information gathering will make it harder to get meaning out of what you get.
