Communist and Workers' Parties as addressed

Dear Comrades,

It is with pleasure that  I inform you that the 9th Congress of the
Communist Party of Australia will be held in Sydney between April
14-16th, 2001.

The agenda includes a report on the work of the Central Committee since
the last Congress which was held in 1996. A second report will outline a
Political Resolution which has been under discussion in Party
organisations in the pre-Congress period. The Congress will also elect
the Central Committee.

The Political Resolution sets out  the Party's views on the national and
international situation, the struggle of the world's people against  the
globalisation agenda of the TNCs and the attempts of imperialism,
particularly US imperialism, to impose its domination over all
countries, including even developed industrial countries.

It puts forward the Party's proposal  for a new  type of government -- a
People's Government -- made up of the left and progressive forces in
society. The Resolution outlines the policy ideas of the Party to be
implemented by such a government in the interests of all sections of the
people exploited by monopoly.

The Political Resolution sees the establishment of a People's Government
as a major step towards the building of a socialist society in
Australia.

It calls for a strengthening of the Party in all respects, upholding its
Marxist-Lenist ideological positions and its working class basis.

Our Party would be greatly honoured if your Party could send a messaage
of greeting which would be read to the assembled delegates and published
in our press. We regret being unable to invite overseas delegations to
our Congress of this occasion.
