During a hearing at London's Bow Street Magistrates' Court, Sulayman Balal Zainulabidin denied charges of inviting others to train in firearms or explosives and of possessing a rifle without a certificate. Prosecutors said Zainulabidin, a 43-year-old kitchen worker from south London, was the founder and chief instructor of a group offering young Muslims training in martial arts, weapons and "the Islamic art of war." They said he had admitted running Sakina Security Services, an "Islamic threat management" firm whose Web site advertised "high-risk jobs in the former Soviet Union and in the civil war arenas of the world." The Web site also offered British Muslims training in combat, survival skills and martial arts. One course, called "Ultimate Jihad Challenge," claimed to involve live weapons training in the United States. Prosecutors have not suggested Zainulabidin, who was arrested in October, was connected to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in the United States. Prosecutors said Sakina was essentially a one-man operation, run from Zainulabidin's apartment. They said Zainulabidin claimed to have trained 60 people in martial arts and survival skills, and to have sent one person on the Ultimate Jihad Challenge. He initially faced a charge of training people in how to make or use firearms, explosives, or chemical, biological or nuclear weapons. But prosecutors lacked evidence that training was provided, a Crown Prosecution Service spokeswoman said Friday. Zainulabidin's lawyers did not seek bail, and he was ordered held until his trial begins June 10. AP-ES-01-04-02 1328EST ------------------ http://all.net/ Your use of Yahoo!
