I do not take kindly to anyone ridiculing my faith. The fact is many
millions of believers in various faiths have perished at the hands of others
who claimed to be acting as "soldiers" for their faith. In the case of the
Crusaders, they were acting on orders from the Pope to obliterate Orthodoxy
and Islam. My opinion is that the Crusades and other such events were
little more than thinly disguised acts of human-motivated conquest and
subjugation, having in truth nothing whatever to do with God. As a Greek
Orthodox, I know we have our own closet full of such things - just like
everyone else. Ditto the Jews. No news here, I'm sure.

I do not condone violence committed in God's name, and I don't care who
claims the contrary (none of the founders of these religions ever claimed
such). Whether it's Islam, Christianity, or Hinduism - any of these that
claim God's directs them to kill in His name (or has at least given them
"permission" to do so) is at best misguided and at worst a liar, end of
story.

The so-called "Holy War" of Jihad is the battle of the spirit within against
the temptations of the world in striving to achieve true piety and
worthiness. It does not involve armed conflict of man against man or nation
against nation - ever. If it were otherwise then please explain why a
religion is strengthened by the death of even a single martyr, and weakened
by the deaths of many who oppose that religion.

But enough on this. What is the latest news on the IWar front?
